TOUR INTO FARNSWORTH'S HOUSE
This past weekend I decided to go and see the Farnsworth House by the legendary architect, Mies van der Rohe. From far, the exterior of the house looks amazing, especially in fall.
We started the tour with the exterior of the house. The house was designed for Dr. Farnsworth as her vacation home from 1945 - 1951 and was finally built in 1951.

The interior of the house was very well thought out. Everything inside this house has its own purpose. The bathroom, mechanical room and the galley kitchen was held of from the window as its own mass, to avoid disrupting the 360 degree views. All the millwork was done beautifully. The bathroom was designed in a modern way that you might not believe that it was from 1951. All appliances in the kitchen were concealled; creating a clean elevation of the kitchen cabinetry. Mies even designed the original Teak wardrobe cabinet as per Dr. Farnsworth request (shown below). It was a big piece of furniture, but it was designed and crafted so beautifully that it synced with the rest of the house. It has everything from drawers to tack panel. Isn't it insane?
